Party Bash

So the day which most Tmiites were waiting for finally arrived. Thelocation quite an exotic one - Garden Court, off the pune bangalore highway, - agood 3 star resort perched high on top of a small hil,l overlooking the greenrainwashed plains of pune. After an exhausting 10 days of boring induction programs, this was a refreshing change indeed! We reached the place around 5 pm, songs and laughter filled the air! Some of us were practising our skits while others simply joined in to vent theircranky vocal cords..The program started when the last of the dignitaries finally turned upat 7 30 pm. Our batch was divided into 4 groups randomly and each group hadto put up a show for 15 min.So it started.First a song, then a skit, streetplay, skit followed by a groiup song, and so it went..Everything got over by , and thats when the drinks startedto flow.Ppl who were quite happy to be prt of the audience until then, made a beeline for the drinks table and strtd gulping dwn peg after peg as ifthey had been thirsty for days.At the same time our local Dj bhai strtd playing some cool hits andeveryone joined in the party. It became quite a frenzy actually when ppl beacme cranky, violently punching the air with their fisits and legs as if toshow they were responding to the peppy numbers played by the Dj.Glasses were broken and many a drinks spilt - a total drunken orgy you could say.By 1130 it all ended...

TM in the first week

To be frank the thought of joining tata mtrs and that of having to start work went down not to well with me! It meant that all those good old college days had come to an end, no more masti, excitement, freedom of all things as one would be tied to the General Shift timetable of 830 to 5.Here is what i did in the first three days in Tata mtrs;Day zero: 1st july, 2007 630pm : I was all packed and ready to go! Having taken a Volvo Bus ride I reached this place Wakadwadi sme 20kms off pune at 930. The bus took unsually long to reach Pune as it had not stopped raining since morning or so. I took a rickshaw to Telco Colony, Pimpri whch cost me almost as much as the bus ride itself! I was allotted a separate room on request by Mr. Kadam and i moved into my room. Then I went to the other hostel where most of the new trainees had been given accommodation to meet my 5 friends who had cme from trichy in the morning. Had tayir chaadam made by amma at nightand then totally crashed.Day One: Got up at 630am. was surprisingly fresh as the Tata colony sports a 2 side tree lining road and a nice cool morning weather. Really refreshing indeed! The Apprentice mess is a block away and so is the pick up bus that would come once we all start reporting to the plant office.I had pohe and chahaa at the mess (which was strictly okay) and waited along with my other friends for the bus. We were then taken to a hotel named Kalasagar on the old Pune Mumbai National Highway. Once inside, Anubhab Goel the HR guy responsible for handling the Trainee batch showed up with his HR team. Contrary to my intuitions (built after hearing his voice and language delivery on phone) this guy was smart and indeed no chomu! The whole day then was spent filling forms regd. Provident fund, super annuation blah blah blah.. We had a decent breakfast and lunch at the hotel..For Lunch there was malai kofta, paneer butter masala, dal fry, gaajar ka halwa and vanilla ice cream for dessert.Once back from the hotel at 5, i went out rambling to check out the environs. The groceries store, medical stores, general stores are nearby 15 min walk away.Day Two: Had sheera and chahaa for brkfast and then we moved into the conference hall within the colony. Had sessions with Mr. Ghosh HR Manager and Mr. Nelson, both Tata men in the sense that both had 36 yrs of Tata life experience between them. But the best talk of all was by Mr. Khursigara, a parsee, who kept us entralled till the end with his talk on Tata Heritage - a full 3hr history session on how it all started.Day three also passed in the same way with talks and more conferences. The induction programme willl go on till the 11th of july. Now smethngon the class: The trainee batch is a good mix of students from colleges like iits, nits, vjti, mit pune, mit chennai, anna univ, punjab engg coll. Some ppl have been recruited for the small car project in singur, some have been recruited for Tata plant in Uttaranchal plant that manufactures the light commercial vehicle called Ace, some for passenger car unit in pune - sumo, indica, indigo, marina and the ilk, while me and the rest of us have been recruited for Commercial vehicles unit in pune.. so i wont be making cars! instead i will be designing tractors, mini trucks, buses, trucks, dumpers etc.. for ppl of rural india and it cudnt be more exciting!! I luv rural india after being rural myself for 4 yrs in trichy.Girls: For a change girls look like girls in pune. Believe me i was staring at every other fair skinned girl walking on the road in mumbai after the trichy chapter! 34- 28- 34 has again shown many a sighting! Its such a change after the barrel shaped non males of tamil nadu. Girls here are actually fairer than me! Isnt that wow news! There are 6-7 girls in my trainee batch. One of them is a bitch - Kavita narayanan - a tambram no surprises there.. very shrewd, cunning and selfish!3 girls are saadhu - one from vjti , one from smewhr, one from pune, .. One of them looked good enough to talk to until i found out that she was a bihari by birth from lallu's land.. not that she speaks hinglish! but atleast the bihar lineage gives me enough signs to stay away! Remember Gopal referring to hot babes from Patna! I know all their names and of a few boys as well.NIT Surathkal guys need a special mention here since thesee guys want to booze, dope, go carting, bowling, trekking, loafing, gymming, shopping at all times!I will continue writing about my experiences there..Feeling sleepy.
